So many months have gone by, and not a whole lot has happened. I feel like I should be trying to keep this up better, but it's hard to come up with things to say. Our days and weeks are virtually the same and I don't want to bore people with the monotony, but enough time has passed so I have enough variety to write about.
Andrew finished his first year of vet school - I am so proud. He did so well and passed all of his courses. I remember when he was living in Bellingham and he was worried that graduate school wasn't the right course for him because of his study habits... and look at him now: a second year! I love him so much and am so grateful for all the hard work he puts in, I know that he tries his best and wants to be able to provide for me when he graduates. He has been looking into some other career routes after he gets his DVM, and right now the idea is to try and get a doctorate in comparative medicine and work as a lab vet, and maybe review some pathology slides on the side for biotech companies... so he's not just a vet. He voiced concerns about how the day-to-day aspects of basic vet life wouldn't be interesting enough. We'll see...
He got a research grant for the summer developing a protocol for mice with muscular dystrophy and determining how much oxygen vs. carbon dioxide they use while exercising. He runs mice on treadmills all day long and monitors them, it's quite fascinating. And Andrew loves it, which is always a bonus. After the trials he will write a paper and hopefully it gets published, so other people doing research can site him. It's very cool, and it's all relevant to his condition!
My job is the same - nothing has changed. Although we are in the process of implementing a paperless practice management program and we are set to go live this fall. We are very excited about that... oh the little things, haha.
The biggest news is that we are moving in three weeks to a house just outside of Pullman! We will be moving into a 1600 sq ft home attached to a house barn, on a local cardiologist's property. He has six horses, six cats, and three dogs. And the neighbors have a 25-horse stable where owners can board their horses. The best part is that we can have KITTIES!! We can't wait! The bathroom has kind of a weird setup, and we're on well water and a septic system... but it's all worth it. We are SO ready to adopt some kittens and be pet owners again.
Oh, our anniversary is in two weeks, and we're leaving for Vegas and Seattle in a week and a half - I have a two week vacation from work and I'm thrilled. Andrew had been planning a surprise vacation for our anniversary and that's where we're going!!! I can't believe we've been married for almost a year - it's insane how quickly this year went by. But I'm looking forward to so many more : )
Pictures to come : )
