A couple of my friends and I went for a bike ride yesterday and I'm just going to put this out there, it's possible to forget how to ride a bike. Sure I can balance and pedal alright, but figuring out gears and handbrakes and gauging how fast to take turns... that didn't just come rushing back to me.
We went out to Troy which is this little town in Idaho about 10 miles away from Moscow, so it wasn't too long of a ride. We saw some beautiful scenery while getting our workouts for the day in too! (Granted, I got a ride home from Andrew, more on that later.) I was in the back of the pack for most of the trip, which is fine because these two lades are not bad to look at, ha!
Tracy got stung by a bee, my chain fell off a couple times (because I'm pretty sure I'm an idiot), and I don't think I've ever been as thirsty as I was in a long time. I had a backpack with some water and snacks, but rationing isn't a strong skill I possess. I also neglected to wear sunscreen so today I'm sporting some pretty rad burns. These two convinced me to join a gym back in March and we all regularly workout, but I forgot how nice it is to change it up and do something outside.
We made it to Troy and stopped at the cutes joint called the Filling Station where we sat for about 45 minutes before actually deciding what we wanted to eat. They had amazing pizzas and paninis, salads, desserts, smoothies, ice cream, soups etc. We ordered delicious food, gorged and surprisingly put away a lot of it. It was one of the most relaxing meals I've had in awhile, no rush, no fuss, just a great lunch on a beautiful day with fabulous company.
The plan was originally to ride out, eat, and hitch a ride back with one of our husbands. I was sticking to that plan; the ride was a struggle for me and I every time I sat back on the bikeseat my pubic area hurt so badly. I'm still sore today, moving is fine so my muscles aren't achy, but I'm pretty sure I've got some bruised bones down there. Pleasant. Andrew came out to pick me up; I always call him my hero because no matter where I am or what he's doing, he'll rescue me.
Shannon and Tracy were beasts and after eating they just hopped right back on and made the return trip. Hopefully in time I'll be able to also, I now have a goal to work towards. I haven't had any real fitness goals lately, just workout, maintain my weight, get in shape. I can't wait until the next time we ride and I'm better than yesterday.
I may not be great at riding and making sure my water lasts me the whole trip, but I am pretty good at getting pictures while on a bike. Enjoy!
